Shutting Game — Many people know this as “shut the box” and it is an old dice game that works well for a little luck & strategy with quick thinking. Developed in the mid-20th century, is another famous game that has retained itself because of its elementary but strategic playing design. Played with two dice and a collection of number tiles, or on a numbered grid/board – this makes it appealing to young players but equally at home for seniors who are gathered around the table in family situations, games nights etc. Objective and Setup The basic goal of Shutting Game is to roll dice which add up and then move the appropriate numbered tile or space on board. This game can be played by one or more players, but mostly it is used as a competitive boardgame with multiple participants. On each turn the player rolls 6 dice and based on this result tries to shut numbers from tiles by covering them, with an aim of accumulating minimal total open number for all their turns.
